What Is a SHIFT Day?

A SHIFT Day is a community gathering built on a simple idea: what you no longer need can be exactly what someone else has been looking for. No money changes hands. Items — and sometimes skills — move from one person to the next, staying in use and out of the landfill.

Each SHIFT Day has a focus. Some center on clothing, others on household goods, tools, books, or skill-sharing and repair. Across all of them the spirit is the same: reduce waste, share what we have, and care for both our neighbors and the earth. It's stewardship of creation put into practice, and a way to be in real relationship outside the usual buy-and-sell.
