The mission of the Worship and Arts Team is to: 


  • support the pastor by helping to imagine and plan sensory-rich worship experiences, including music, visual arts, dance, theater,  interactive activities, etc.

  • provide a place for brainstorming, collaboration, and creative worship design, encouraging experimentation in worship

  • see to the long-term care of the pastor by helping to plan for pastoral vacations and regular breaks (for example, planning alternative worship and other activities for the fifth Sunday of the month Taize services, hymn-sing Sundays, etc. )

  • help the congregation live into its vision of intergenerational community by planning worship that is inclusive and welcoming toward children, youth, and families

  • help the congregation live into its vision for worship music, which includes: 

    • a variety of musical styles and instruments

    • a vibrant, diverse, and thriving music program

    • musicians of all ages and abilities

    • music that reflects the congregation’s inclusive, progressive theology and social justice commitments:

      • gender equity

      • racial justice

      • LGBTQ welcome (reflecting our Open and Affirming covenant)

      • peacemaking, and environmental justice (reflecting our Just Peace covenant)
