About the event

“IJenNeh” means heaven in the Mandingo dialect of Liberia, and few words better describe the music of Lasana Kanneh. His unique blend of African rhythms, gospel harmonies, reggae grooves, and pop melodies carries the listener toward a sound that is at once joyful, spiritual, and deeply human.

Lasana’s story is as powerful as his music. Born blind in Liberia and abandoned by his father, he found faith and music at the School for the Blind in Monrovia. During Liberia’s civil war, he led the group Echoes of the Blind, singing on the streets for survival—even under gunfire. He later co-founded Liberian Acappella, touring across 46 U.S. states, including a performance at the Grand Ole Opry, and continued with African Gospel Acappella.

Now, as a solo artist, Lasana draws from his roots in African drumming and his love of harmony to create music that transcends genre. His songs rise from the ashes…
